Our Story – The Journey of Deodora Wine
Nestled in the heart of the Petaluma Gap, our 72-acre winery, once a humble goat farm in the rolling Chileno Valley, has undergone a stunning transformation. After acquiring the land, we dedicated months to restoring its natural beauty, breathing new life into several historic buildings and creating a vision that blends rustic charm with modern elegance. A striking wine tower now rises above the landscape, offering future guests the perfect vantage point to savor our wines, while a guest house and estate home form a picturesque village-like setting. With reservoirs and gardens completing the scene, this destination is a harmonious blend of nature, architecture, and winemaking—a challenging yet deeply rewarding journey that continues to evolve.
Judith Phillips & Douglas Mryglod
Co Owners / Husband & Wife
Doug and Judy, the proud owners of Deodora Vineyards, approach their work with a deep respect for the land and a commitment to leaving the earth better than they found it. Doug’s journey began in Ontario, Canada, but it was the Finger Lakes wine region that first drew him into the world of vineyards, working alongside the Ford family’s estate. In 2012, Doug had a dream of finding a vineyard property—a dream that seemed like fate when they discovered the land that would soon become their home. Guided by a passion for sustainability and craftsmanship, Doug and Judy planted their roots. In 2017, they began crafting their own wines under the expert guidance of Ashley Holland, focusing on exceptional Riesling, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir. For them, Deodora Vineyards is not just a business—it’s a lifelong labor of love, nurtured by family, friends, and their vision of leaving a lasting, positive impact on the environment.
